Gilbert Burgess

Hello My Name Is...

Gilbert Burgess

I am a 1998 graduate of Kingstree Senior High School in Kingstree, SC. I am also a 2007
graduate of Francis Marion University in Florence, SC with a Bachelor's of Science in Mathematics. I am a 2017 graduate of Western Governor's University with a Master's of Arts in Teaching Mathematics (5-8).

I began my first year of teaching in 2007 in Williamsburg County School District at Kingstree Jr. High School in Kingstree, SC where I taught 8th grade math. I taught there for three years. I returned back to teaching in 2015.

In 2015, I continued my teaching career at Ronald E. McNair Jr. High School under the leadership of Margie Myers. I taught 8th grade math two years and 7th grade part of my second year. I was fortunate to be under the leadership of Ms. Kristi Anderson my second year at REM.

In 2017, I made the choice to join the JPT family as a 6th grade math teacher. I am grateful to have Mrs. Altman as my principal and Mr. Adam Archer as the assistant principal. I have enjoyed being a part of this great school. I have learned so much in such a short time. I look forward the continued hard work all the faculty and staff put in every day to ensure our kids learn.

At JPT, I am also the advisor of the Young Men Rising To LEADership Club! Thus far, we have 49 young men who are excited about doing great things for the school, district, and community. They look forward to having an even greater impact outside of Lake City, SC.
